Below is a message from the Superintendent of Middletown Public Schools
Dear Beman Middle School and Middletown High School Communities,
In this time of profound grief, Beman Middle School and Middletown High School will be closed on Monday, April 7, 2025, allowing our community to attend the funeral service of Mr. Stephen Hill, our former student, employee, and football coach.
Mr. Hill's service will be held on Monday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Street AME Zion Church (440 West Street, Middletown). This school closure provides our community members who knew Stephen the opportunity to grieve together. Mr. Hill's obituary can be found here.
Classes will resume at Beman Middle School and Middletown High School on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Please be assured that counseling support services will be available for students and staff, as we navigate this challenging time together.
To meet Connecticut's 180-day school year requirement, the final day of school will now be June 12, 2025, for Beman Middle School and June 13, 2025, for Middletown High School. The Class of 2025 graduation remains scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025. We will update the school calendar accordingly.
Thank you for your understanding as we come together during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alberto Vázquez Matos
