Students: Colleges generally visit between September and December each year. Please check Naviance or this link for an updated calendar.

College Planning Information

SOPHOMORES:

  • Take interest inventory in career center to start thinking about what career path you may want to take
  • Attend Career Expo in April to explore career options

JUNIORS:

  • Take PSAT in October
  • Attend PSAT meeting in December to go over results
  • Attend Junior Meeting in January
  • Build a resume in the Career Center (Januar y - March)
  • Complete a college search in Career Center  (Januar y - March)
  • Sign up for the May or June SAT's
  • Research schools on your list (April, May & June)
  • Visit schools on your list during April break, on weekends and over the summer 
  • Ask 2 teachers for letters of recommendation (June)
  • Finalize list of schools by September 1st

SENIORS:

  • Meet with college admission representatives in the career center
  • Build resume and submit a copy to school counselor
  • Ask your counselor for letter of recommendation if required by college
  • Fill out applications
  • Write college essays and have English teacher edit for grammar
  • Meet with counselor 15 school days before application is due to review application materials
  • Student mails: college application, essay, resume and application fee (it is good idea to make a copy of application and all materials sent)
  • Send SAT Scores to each college through www.collegeboard.com
  • Submit transcript request form with parent signature to guidance. Guidance needs 15 days to process official transcripts!! There are no exceptions to this rule! Be prompt!
  • Guidance mails: official transcript, letters of recommendation, school report, and mid year report
  • Student should call colleges to confirm they received your application and it is complete
  • Fill out the FAFSA Form in January
  • Apply for scholarships January – May
  • Send deposit(s) into college of your chioce by May 1st!  
  • Attend Senior Awards Ceremony in June
